Ten top shopping tips for brides to be.

Hello,

Thank you so much for visiting this page. Here are 10 useful tips to take into consideration before you start the exciting adventure of shopping for your wedding dress.

1] Before you start to make appointments establish what your budget is. If your mum has offered to pay for your dress discuss what a comfortable spend would be for her. If you are paying also take in to consideration alterations and accessories such as veil , shoes and hair accessories.

2] Research your stores before you visit. Spend a happy afternoon/evening looking at the websites and social media of the stores you would like to visit. Friends, family and work colleagues will recommend stores they loved when they were on the same journey. Before you book make sure they carry the sizes you would need and styles you think you would like to try and don’ be tempted to book more than two in one day. You can easily get overwhelmed.

3] Bring to your appointment the people who you know will help you to make your decision. Try to keep the numbers to under 4 people. Too many opinions can be very overwhelming.

4] Try to have your hair in a similar style to how your think you would want it on your wedding day. This will really help you to visualise your bridal look.

5] Wear underwear that fits and doesn’t give you a VPL, try buying a size up from your usual size and then you are guaranteed a comfortable fit and no digging in. Nude is a perfect colour as is blush pink. Here are some recommendations.

6] Check if the store of your choice has shoes for you to try with the dresses, if no then bring some with you. If you can do heels take your comfy pair and think about how the heel feels when you are in a full length gown. Take into consideration your fiancés height and remember you really don’t have to do a heel if you don’t normally wear them.

7] Give yourself a realistic timeframe to start shopping for your wedding dress. Dresses can take up to 8 months to order and then allow another 6 to 8 weeks for alterations. I recommend 18 months to a year. If you don’t have that kind of time for whatever reason don’t panic! I and many stores have a sale or off the rail options in their store that means you can take the dress away same day. Don’t be afraid to ask your chosen stores if this is something they can offer.

8] Be open minded. Don’t get stuck on one style because that’s what you thought you’d love and would wear on your wedding day. Let your stylist guide you and try on different styles of wedding gown. Roughly 80% of my brides buy the complete opposite to what they told me they wanted.

9] Follow your heart. If you love the very first dress you try on in the very first store trust yourself and go with it. It can be that easy!

10] Lastly and most importantly, stay true to yourself. We are all individuals and it is so important for you to do you.

I hope this has been helpful
